November 24, 1963, was a Sunday. It was two days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. On this day, Lee Harvey Oswald, the man accused of assassinating Kennedy, was himself shot and killed by nightclub owner Jack Ruby while in police custody.
